  • Scheduling In-Person Visits

    Aug 16, 2021, 10:43 AM By MOSERS

Did you know we have several benefit counselors who are available to meet with employees face to face in our Jefferson City office?

If members have questions about their MOSERS retirement, life insurance, or long-term disability benefits, they can certainly ask those questions over the phone or by email. However, if they prefer, they can schedule an appointment in our office. Counselors are available to assist members from 8:00 a.m. until noon and from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our office is open during the noon hour for members who would like to drop off forms, however, we also have a drop box outside our office available 24/7.

    Our benefit counselors can:
    • Print off benefit estimates while you are here
    • Discuss your retirement options
    • Show you how to retire online
    • Personally assist you if you need to submit a claim for life insurance or long-term disability
    • And so much more!
Please encourage your employees to make an appointment in advance and to see our tips for in person visits.

If employees would rather meet virtually, instead of in-person, they can just let us know when they contact us to schedule an appointment. We will set it up through GoToMeeting, making it easy to connect one-on-one with a benefit counselor.

Around the end of June, we sent an email to employees within five years of retirement eligibility reminding them to join us for a Ready to Retire session. This is a great opportunity to learn about the decisions they will need to make and to prepare for the retirement process. To accommodate different work schedules, we have both day and evening sessions available. Employees will sign up for a session based upon their plan:

If you have employees who have registered for an in-person session and are unable to attend, please have them contact MOSERS in advance at (800) 827-1063 to cancel. This will open a seat in the seminar and allow us to provide an accurate headcount to the caterer, venue, etc. We are still requiring social distancing in conference rooms. To ensure sufficient seating for our members, spouses and guests may not attend in-person seminars at this time. However, a spouse or guest is welcome (and encouraged) to attend with the employee in an online webinar.

If you have employees nearing their retirement eligibility date, please encourage them to register today for a session! As with all of our member education events, HR representatives are also welcome to attend.

Please contact MOSERSEducation@mosers.org if you have any questions.

  • PreRetirement Seminars Go Online for the Remainder of 2020

    Jul 15, 2020, 11:10 AM By MOSERS

We are transitioning MOSERS PreRetirement Seminars into online webinars for the rest of this year. This is due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Starting in August, we will consolidate the number of webinars offered in order to add open webinars this fall (more to come).

If an employee registered to attend an in-person seminar, they will receive an email invitation with instructions to join an online webinar. The webinar will occur during the same week they were originally scheduled to attend an in-person seminar. We will also send a packet to them in the mail containing several resources. This will include a benefit estimate based on the information they provided when they first registered.

The general breakdown for the daytime webinars will be:

    8:30 – 12:00 – MOSERS (includes breaks)

    12:00 – 12:30 – LUNCH BREAK

    12:30 – 1:20 – MO Deferred Comp (MODC)

1:30 – 2:20 – Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

    2:30 – 3:20 – Social Security Administration (SSA).

Evening sessions with MOSERS information only will be available on August 12 and September 10. A closed-captioning session will be available on September 15.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we navigate this situation.

  • Word on the Street: Attending a PreRetirement Seminar

    Mar 17, 2020, 3:41 PM By MOSERS

True or False: Members must attend a MOSERS PreRetirement Seminar before they can retire.

    FALSE!

While we do highly encourage members to attend at least one Ready to Retire/PreRetirement Seminar before they retire, it is not required. Ready to Retire/PreRetirement Seminars provide members within 5 years of retirement eligibility with valuable information about their pension benefit, including the decisions they will have to make during the retirement process.

These seminars fill fast! If employees want to attend in 2020, they should enroll now by logging in to myMOSERS and going to Seminar Enrollment

  • Seminar Cancellations

    Feb 14, 2020, 8:48 AM By MOSERS

Our Ready to Retire (PreRetirement) Seminars have been filling quickly and we’ve added more sessions and increased enrollment in certain venues, but we need your help as well!

Please remind your employees, that if they (and/or their registered guest) are unable to attend, to contact MOSERS at (800) 827-1063, as soon as possible, to cancel their registration and/or reschedule.

Once a member enrolls in a seminar, we reserve a seat for them (and any registered guests) in the seminar and include them in the meal count for that day. We confirm our seminar numbers to the caterer and venue one week prior to the seminar. So, as much advance notice of a cancellation as possible is greatly appreciated! This will allow MOSERS to reduce waste (food and materials) by providing a more accurate headcount AND to contact any members who may be on the waiting list.

In 2019, there were 335 no-shows, which resulted in many open seats and unused resources!

Ready to Retire (PreRetirement) by Special Request

    • are within one year of their actual retirement date,
    • have not attended or enrolled in a PreRetirement Seminar, and
    • don’t regularly have seminars in their area.

    FAQ:

What if I would like to host a session, but will not able to meet the minimum attendance requirements?

We encourage you to work with other agencies in your area and combine resources.

What about employees who work 2nd or 3rd shifts?

We would certainly try to accommodate those employees as well.

What responsibilities does the agency have during the sessions?

Selecting the location or conference room, providing a/v equipment, food and beverages (if any) are the responsibility of the requesting agency.

Will MO Deferred Comp be presenting?

If you would like for MO Deferred Comp to present at these sessions, let us know and we will coordinate scheduling with them. Please allow an additional 30 minutes for their presentation.

Let MOSERS do the work! We will provide you with promotional materials that you can forward directly to your targeted employees which will include instructions for enrolling online.

Don’t forget! We will be sending information and releasing our Mid-Career Webinar schedule around the first of the year, please help us promote these sessions and encourage your employees that are vested and more than ten years from retirement eligibility to attend.

  • Are You Getting Ready to Retire?

    Jan 6, 2020, 9:06 AM By MOSERS

    2020 Schedule Coming Soon!

Employees who are within five years of retirement eligibility will soon be able to register to attend a Ready to Retire (PreRetirement) Seminar or Webinar! The 2020 schedule for MSEP & MSEP 2000 seminars, as well as MSEP 2011 seminars and online webinars will be available on MOSERS’ website in mid-December.

MSEP & MSEP 2000 Ready to Retire (PreRetirement) Seminars will start again in February 2020.

MSEP 2011 Ready to Retire (PreRetirement) Webinars and Seminars will begin in March 2020.

Watch the mail in your office for our 2020 Ready to Retire Schedule poster. When you receive it, please hang it in a common area, such as a breakroom, so that your employees will be aware of upcoming seminars.

Members must be registered to attend. A spouse or guest is welcome to attend with a member, even if they are not a state employee, but they must be registered as well. If the guest is also a state employee within five years of retirement eligibility, they should register separately (as a member) in order to receive their own personalized benefit estimate.

Similar to the past few years, 2019 Ready-to-Retire (PreRetirement) seminars filled early in the year and stayed full. MOSERS educators presented more than 90 seminars providing information to nearly 3,500 members through in-person sessions across the state, on university campuses, and via online webinars. Once registration opens, encourage employees who are planning to retire in 2020, or within the next five years, to log in through myMOSERS to view the seminar schedule and register for a session.

If the member (or member’s guest) is unable to attend after registering, they should contact MOSERS as soon as possible at (800) 827-1063, to cancel and/or reschedule. This will allow us to provide an accurate headcount to the caterer, venue, etc., and contact members who may be on a waiting list to attend.

Also, remember that all HR representatives are encouraged to attend a seminar at any stage in their career to familiarize themselves with MOSERS and the benefits we offer.
