Pension Payments
When will I receive my pension payment each month? When will I receive my COLA? Is my pension benefit taxable? How can I manage my benefits and make changes to my personal information? The information and links below can help you answer these questions.
Payday
We send pension payments by direct deposit and mail on the last working day of each month. Remember, direct deposit is faster and easier. With direct deposit, you don't have to wait on the mail, you don't have to go to the bank, and you don't even have to be home. Your payment will go directly into your account. If you want to switch from a paper check to direct deposit, log in to myMOSERS to complete the Direct Deposit Authorization form online. Alternatively, you may find the form in the Library, print it and mail it to MOSERS. If you have questions, contact MOSERS.
Pension Payment ScheduleCost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs)
You will receive your COLA in the same month each year.
Taxes
Your MOSERS pension benefit is subject to federal income tax and may be subject to state income tax. However, you may qualify for the Missouri Public Pension Exemption.
We will mail your 1099-R tax form by the end of January for any pension benefit income you received from MOSERS during the prior year.
If you are retired with savings in MO Deferred Comp but you are not currently receiving payments, you must begin taking required minimum distributions at age 73 according to IRS rules.

Changes in Your Benefit Amount
We will notify you whenever the amount of your benefit payment changes (usually due to insurance premiums, taxes, COLAs, etc.).
If you receive the temporary benefit, it ends at age 62, regardless of when you apply for Social Security benefits.
If you return to work after retirement in a benefit-eligible position covered by MOSERS or the MoDOT and Patrol Employees’ Retirement System (MPERS), your monthly MOSERS pension payments will stop.
Manage Your Benefits
Make changes to your tax withholdings or direct deposit, review your annual benefit statement, read correspondence from MOSERS, and update your personal information at myMOSERS.
