  • How to Schedule an In-Person Meeting with MOSERS Before Retirement

    Feb 16, 2024, 4:20 PM By MOSERS
I couldn't find anything about this on your site, only how to enroll in webinars and such. I am planning on retiring on 11/1/24 and would like to come down sometime this Summer for an in-person MOSERS retirement meeting. How would I go about setting this up, and what would be the best time frame based on my planned retirement date?
You can schedule an appointment in advance to meet with a benefit counselor in our office. Our benefit counselors can print off benefit estimates while you are here, discuss your retirement options, show you how to retire online, and assist you with any other questions you may have about the retirement process. To schedule an appointment, call (800) 827-1063 or (573) 632-6100. We encourage you to schedule this sooner rather than later to give yourself time to process the information and schedule an additional meeting if you like.

Keep in mind that there must be one entire month between the date we receive your application and your retirement date. Using your example, if your retirement date is November 1, your Retirement Application is due no later than September 30 and your Retirement Election Form is due no later than October 31. You can submit your retirement application as early as 4 months (120 days) prior to your retirement date.

We also encourage you to attend a Ready to Retire in-person seminar or webinar before you retire. You can find dates for all our in-person seminars and our webinars by going to the Education page of our website and clicking on Ready to Retire. Once you find the session you want to attend, log in to myMOSERS to register.

  • Attending a Ready to Retire Session...Again!

    Jun 13, 2023, 1:38 PM By MOSERS

I have taken the retirement class previously, but now that I am closer to retirement, can I take it again for more clarification?

Absolutely! We encourage members to attend a Ready to Retire session more than once in the years leading up to retirement. Now that you are nearing retirement, it would be a great choice to attend again.

Please note that our system will not allow you to enroll in more than one session in a calendar year. This is to keep seats available for those who are very close to retirement.

  • Ready to Retire Seminars

    Nov 4, 2022, 3:55 PM By MOSERS
I was wondering if there are person to person retirement seminars. I retire in 2024.

Congrats on your upcoming retirement! Yes, we do offer our Ready to Retire session as both in-person seminars and online webinars. As a member who has less than 5 years until retirement eligibility, attending a Ready to Retire session is a great decision and one that will allow you to learn more about the retirement process and how you can prepare. Our seminars are full for the remainder of this year, however, we will be releasing the education schedules for 2023 in mid-December. Be sure to check the Education page on our website and watch your email for updates.

  • MSEP 2011 Seminars

    Mar 4, 2022, 3:16 PM By MOSERS
I am reaching out about the in-person retirement seminar for 2011 employees. At this time there are only 2, both in Jefferson City. Could there please be some added in other parts of the state? For anyone outside central Missouri this presents difficulties: such as myself it is a 5 hour drive one way. This means a VERY long day (4am-9pm) or missing 1/2 to 1 day work & the cost of a room.

You are correct. For MSEP 2011 members we offer two in-person Ready to Retire seminars in Jefferson City. However, we also have two online webinars available this year on May 17th and September 20th. This is a great way to skip the commute and get important benefit information from your home.

You can visit our Ready to Retire page for more information and to learn how to register for a webinar.
