Remote Work is Still Credited Service

May 18, 2021, 16:00 PM by MOSERS
I’ve just heard from 2 different people – 2 different agencies - that the time spent working from home is NOT being counted as “time worked” for retirement purposes.

Any employee who continued to work in a MOSERS benefit-eligible position while working remotely, continued to earn service credit. You can log in to myMOSERS, click on Personal Information, then Service Credit History to see your credited service for retirement purposes. (Note: If you are in the process of purchasing or transferring service, that service will not show until the purchase or transfer is complete.)

If your employer reported to MOSERS that you were in layoff status (you were also not receiving a paycheck), then you would not receive service credit during a layoff. If you have unusual circumstances, contact a MOSERS benefit counselor to discuss your individual situation.
