Are you ready to retire? Retire Online!

Retirement isn't just a destination – it’s a journey! Many of our members retire online after attending a Ready to Retire seminar, meeting with a MOSERS benefit counselor to discuss their retirement options, and making important financial decisions with their spouse or significant other.
The easiest and most convenient way to apply for retirement is online. When you apply online, you won’t have to wait for us to process a paper retirement application and mail you additional forms. You can complete both steps of the two-step retirement process online all at once, or you can leave and come back later to finish.
Start by logging in to myMOSERS and selecting Retirement Benefit Estimates to calculate your benefit estimate. With our new member portal, you can see how a pay increase could affect your monthly benefit amount, compare your benefit payment options side by side, and generate and save up to 10 benefit estimates at a time!
When you’re ready to retire, log in to myMOSERS and select Apply for Retirement from the I want to… menu. This will take you to the Retire Online process.
After completing Step 1 and submitting the Retirement Application, you'll see a progress bar showing the forms you still need to complete. As you complete each form, your progress bar will advance until you reach Step 2, the Retirement Election Form. Your Retirement Guide provides helpful information about each of these forms.
Check out our new Retire Online video to see how easy it is to complete the retirement process online!
- Electing a Benefit Payment Option – If you are married and elect a benefit payment option other than a joint & survivor option, such as Life Income Annuity, your spouse must consent to your election by signing a form that we will send you.
- BackDROP Distribution Payment – If you elect BackDROP with a rollover distribution going to a plan other than MO Deferred Comp, we will send you a form that must be signed by an authorized representative of the qualified retirement plan agreeing to accept the rollover. Once signed, the form must be returned to MOSERS.
Refer to the chart below to meet the specific due dates when applying for retirement. You may submit your application as early as 120 days prior to your retirement date.
Example: If your retirement date is September 1, 2025, your retirement application is due no later than July 31, and your election form is due no later than August 31.
